Dettelbach Ready to Hit Ground Running as General Election Kicks Off
CLEVELAND – With polls now officially closed in this year’s Ohio primary elections, Steve Dettelbach released the following statement:
“Tonight marks an opportunity to celebrate an important step. It is not, however, an opportunity to rest. I look forward to continuing to fight tooth and nail every day from here until November for the privilege of serving as Ohio’s Attorney General.
“As Attorney General, I’ll stand up for the Rule of Law and enforce one set of rules for everyone. That means when I’m Attorney General, I’ll fight to protect Ohioans from human traffickers, child abusers and the opioid crisis, as well as career politicians who’ve enabled their donors to game our political system at the expense of working people.
“I have spent decades fighting against corruption as a federal prosecutor, and I have never seen a more broken system than we have in our own Statehouse right now. Time and again, politicians help their big donors game the system, while they ignore the problems working Ohioans face. If we want to fix this system, we’ve got to stop counting on career politicians to do it.
“I am a prosecutor, not a politician. That’s the difference between me and my opponent, and that’s the choice in this campaign. When you look at how my opponent has mishandled the ECOT fraud case and refused repeated calls to step aside these last few weeks, that choice is abundantly clear. As the General Election begins, I look forward to talking about that choice every day in this campaign.”
Steve Dettelbach, the Democratic candidate for Ohio Attorney General, is a former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio and career federal prosecutor.
