STEVE DETTELBACH ISSUES STATEMENT ON HATEFUL, ANTI-SEMITIC TERROR ATTACK IN PITTSBURGH

CLEVELAND — In response to the tragedy that occurred in Pittsburgh today, Democratic nominee for Attorney General Steve Dettelbach issued the following statement:

“The news out of Pittsburgh devastates me. As a proud Jew with family who attends the Tree of Life synagogue, my heart is broken for the families of those killed, the entire congregation, and the Jewish community across this country but this terror goes beyond any one religion. This week alone, a white supremacist murdered two African Americans after trying to enter a black church, a Florida man sent 13 mail bombs to political opponents, and now today we hear the news of a cowardly mass murder of people praying in Pittsburgh. This has to stop. As US Attorney, I prosecuted many hate crimes. Believe me when I say that things will not get better until we end the divisive and hateful rhetoric and our leaders bring people together instead of dividing us. It’s time for Ohioans and all Americans to say ‘enough.’”
